Freedom’s Dream Global has joined forces with the Organization for the Development of the New Haitian Generation (O.D.N.G.H.), a newly established non-profit organization in Haiti. Together, we aim to raise awareness and financial support for the drilling of artesian wells in the community of Man-Malèm in the city of Cap Haïtien. The primary objective is to address the critical shortage of potable water in the area, which significantly impacts the health of children and women. This initiative represents a vital humanitarian and social project for Haiti. Join us in our mission to support Haiti.

Addressing the dire water crisis in Haiti requires a multifaceted approach that tackles the root causes of the problem while providing immediate relief to affected communities. As a grassroots organization committed to making a difference, we recognize the urgent need to build artesian water wells in small communities across Haiti.

Challenge

In Haiti, the greatest obstacle to accessing potable water stems from a combination of factors, including inadequate infrastructure, widespread poverty, insufficient funding, and limited awareness. Statistics indicate that only about 64% of the population in rural areas have access to basic water services, while 40% lack access to improved water sources altogether. This critical shortage leaves many Haitians grappling with the constant challenge of obtaining clean water for survival.

Water, the most fundamental necessity for life, is often scarce, creating a perpetual struggle akin to living in a state of perpetual drought. Compounding this issue, young girls shoulder the responsibility of fetching water for their families. They bravely trek long distances, often carrying up to 5 gallons of water on their heads, to fulfill this essential need.

Solutions: One of the primary solutions we propose is the construction of artesian water wells in small communities. These wells tap into underground aquifers, providing a sustainable source of clean water that is not dependent on unreliable surface water sources. By strategically locating these wells in areas with the greatest need, we can ensure that vulnerable communities have access to safe and reliable water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene purposes.

Long Term Impact: In conclusion, grassroots organizations have a vital role to play in addressing the water crisis in Haiti. By championing initiatives to build artesian water wells in small communities, these organizations can provide a lifeline to Haitian families, particularly vulnerable populations like young girls burdened with water-fetching responsibilities. Through collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, grassroots efforts can help pave the way for a future where clean and accessible water is a reality for all Haitians, ensuring a brighter and healthier tomorrow for generations to come.
